Ecuador is a country with many natural spaces, and very diverse territory with extensive beaches, tropical jungle, mountains with dry climate, and mangrove swamps. A country that is famous for it´s Galapago Islands Archipelago.

This country has more than 1600 species of birds, more than 4000 different species of butterflies, 300 species of reptiles and amphibians, 200 mammals and definately one of the most diverse countries in fauna and flora in the world. It has more than 20 protected species.

Besides the Galapagos, the most famous place in Ecuador that we must mention is the capital of Quito with it´s snowy mountains, volcano´s and Andes mountain ranges. The island of Santay in front of the city of Guayaquil is a natural reserve where flora and fauna are very important. You can also charter a yacht and head out to the Simon Bolivar pier. It is marvelous spot to visit and go trekking in.

In Ecuador there are many protected areas, whether they be national parks, natural parks or reserves. They occupy 17% of the land, and about 50,000 kms2. The National Park of the Galapago Islands and the National Park of Sangay are the both World heritage declared so by the UNESCO.

The National Park of the Galapagos Islands, the one in Machalilla, The Linganates or Popocarpus are others.
